Medical Path F.A.Q.
Medical Path identifies the hospital structure of global excellence for the management of your pathological condition and puts you in touch with the most qualified professional to ask for a second medical opinion.
The procedure takes the form of an easy and linear process, started by sharing the patient’s medical records, reports and exams on the one hand, and the formulation of the specifications in search of a solution on the other. Following this, the Medical Path team will be in charge of drawing up an estimate, which, if accepted, will produce answers to the patient’s questions relating to his specific condition.
Seeking a second medical opinion may arise for a variety of reasons, each of which involves a specific question. By way of example, some patients question whether the treatments offered to them are standard or truly represent the best choice for their condition. Others may be interested in alternative therapies that are not available in their country of residence. Still others try to weigh which of two treatment options is the most appropriate and beneficial. Finally, there are those who wish to identify the most qualified specialized center in the world for their specific pathology. For each of these questions, Medical Path provides a precise and punctual answer. Furthermore, in the event that the patient needs to contact a specialized structure, the Medical Path team undertakes to identify the most suitable contact person within the structure and to provide the patient and his family with an immediately available point of reference for contact .
A second medical opinion may be sought for the following reasons:
Absolutely not. In medical practice, requesting a second opinion is not considered disrespectful to the doctor initially consulted. It is widely recognized that the right of the patient to seek a second medical evaluation is a common practice and a natural step in the process of diagnosis and treatment. Doctors around the world understand and accept this practice as an integral part of health care. Thus, no one should feel uncomfortable seeking a second medical opinion, as it is fully aligned with professional norms and expectations. The priority is always to guarantee the patient’s well-being and the best possible assistance, and the request for a second opinion can contribute to this goal by providing a more complete and in-depth picture of the clinical situation.
The service provided by Medical Path is based on a fee that is proportional to the time required by the medical team to conduct research and discussions and to the complexity of the pathology in question, therefore it varies according to the peculiarities of each individual case. To this end, we are always committed to providing a free estimate, since it is essential that the patient immediately understands the implications, including the economic ones, of having a team of specialized doctors available to analyze his specific case.
The service provided by Medical Path requires an advance payment of 50% of the amount of the estimate, with the balance to be paid before the delivery of the response.
Since it is not possible to know this response a priori since the amount of work differs from case to case and from the type of question formulated by the patient, Medical Path undertakes, within each estimate, to estimate a delivery date so that the response is compatible with the wishes of the patient.
